Introduction
This website has been designed for use by students in
the University of Wolverhampton School of Humanities, Languages and Social
Sciences module HS2017 “Telling Our Stories: Gender, Ethnicity and Class
in Twentieth-Century Britain.”
The module examines classifications of gender, ethnicity and
class in twentieth-century Britain and introduces students
to the theory and practice of oral history. A central theme
of the course is the extent of change and continuity in the
perceived reality of these classifications and the ways in
which historians and social theorists have thought about gender,
ethnicity and class in twentieth-century Britain.
This package introduces three key areas of the module: Black
History, Women’s History and Oral History. Video clips
from the Black and Ethnic Minority Experience archive support
the information provided in each subject area. Users are encouraged
to use the tasks as thinking points for discussion and to access
the Resources link for further research. |
