What is ‘Home’ About?

‘ Home’ celebrates the rich culture of the Black Country and invites school children to engage their imaginations and their schoolwork with the diversity of their own communities.

‘ Home’ addresses multiple disciplinary areas of the national curriculum. Most notably, ‘Home’ introduces key themes in the Key Stage Two PSHE and citizenship curricula guidelines, particularly in developing personal relationships and in respecting diversity among people. In-class activities exploring these themes were developed by the Gazebo team to promote confidence and self-awareness among students.

‘Home’ also addresses areas of the history, geography and English curricula. Each character introduces elements of his or her country of origin and shares his or her personal experiences with important historical events.
