The follow-up activities to ‘Home’ focus
on two areas: Drama Games/Exercises and Storytelling.
Drama Games and Exercises are useful starting points for
exploring PSHE and Citizenship issues that enable young
people to engage with broad themes. The activities are
flexible and can be adapted for a specific group’s
needs and to a variety of contexts. Ideal for starting
a session or launching a project, the activities aid development
of observation, concentration, memory, skills in speaking
and listening. The activities encourage young people to
interact positively with others and to respond appropriately
to instruction.
Storytelling Exercises relate directly to the style of
performance the young people will have seen and offer the
same opportunities to explore the skills outlines above.
The activities also open a door through which the surrounding
community culture can enter the school. These exercises
provide students with the tools to develop their own tales
and relate their own experiences through story telling.
