Mon 6 Dec, 6.16- 7.30pm
First Annual General Meeting of the BE-ME Foundation
The Black and Ethnic Minority Experience (BE-ME) project
started in 1998 as a consortium of some twenty organisations
in Wolverhampton. A great deal has been achieved through
the consortium, including an archive of 108 video and audio
interviews with people from the Caribbean and South Asia
who settled in Wolverhampton between 1948 and 1970, a major
conference on the use of such material in educational,
website giving world wide access to clips from the archive
and to ten on-line learning packages that have been designed
in partnership with schools, colleges, the University of
Wolverhampton and community-based educational projects.
However, it became apparent that there was a need for a
properly constituted accountable body to secure the future
of BE-ME. The BE-ME Foundation was established in September
2003 with an interim board.
This AGM will give members the opportunity to elect a
board for the next year and to find out about development
over
the past year. There will also be a pre-view of a new
CD Rom produced by BE-ME in conjunction with Gazebo
Theatre.
All are welcome to attend. Enquiries about membership
to BE-ME should be made care of Light House. Contact
Frank Challenger (frank@light-house.co.uk)
or ring reception on 01902 716055. New members registered
before 1 December
will be entitled to
make nominations
and
vote
for board members. Pre-booking is not essential but,
