BE-ME was established in 1999 to record the experiences of African-Caribbean and Asian people who came to Wolverhampton after World War II.

BE-ME has recorded over 100 audio/video interviews with respondents from Wolverhampton’s nof logoAfrican-Caribbean and Asian communities. With the assistance of NOF (New Opportunity Fund), a selection of these interviews is now accessible on this site. This website also contains on-line learning packages created in conjunction with local schools and universities. These packages are available to the public and demonstrate BE-ME’s resolve to create models of good practice in education.

New Respondents added to BE-ME Video Archive
As part of its commitment to recording and preserving the experiences shaping the lives of African-Caribbean and South Asian men and women who settled in Wolverhampton in the 1950s and 1960s, BE-ME has catalogued and digitised new interviews. These interviews were part of the original 107 audio and video interviews recorded in 1999 and 2000. To access these newcomers to the BE-ME on-line archive, select the “Browse Archive” option on the drop-down navigation above.

 LEARNING PACKAGES

In collaboration with local schools, colleges and universities, BE-ME has developed on-line learning resources based on the experiences of its respondents.
